SUMMER READS: Self help your Self
These in my humble opinion these are four life changing reads. They are amazing books that will help you, and help you relate to others in your life. They are mostly about healing from trauma, if you yourself have experienced trauma they might be helpful or if you love someone who has experienced trauma.
Disclaimer if you or someone one you love is in danger please call 911, self help books are great but they are no replacement for professional help please reach out to 988 if you are in need of mental health help or in crisis.

Paper Towel Swap Outs
I use rags for just about everything unless its meat juice or fat or something really nasty like cleaning toilets those are paper towel jobs.
I use the white shop rags they last me a few years until they are so gross I let them go to the trash. They are cotton so they will break down over time.
I do white for my rags and tea towels so i can bleach them. Yes I use bleach when it comes to nasty stuff that could get me sick and I use for cleaning .
Tea Towels I use these just as often as the rags they are great at absorbing liquids. I usually have fancy cute ones and then just plain white ones.
I keep them in a cute container like this near the paper towels so I can grab for the, first. Also part of this is training your family and kids to use the rags first rather then paper towels.
Sponge Alternatives
I think this is an area in the kitchen that creates a lot of waste and here are a few of my favorite swap outs.
Luffas these are easy to grow and compostable.
Reusable sponges, these are great because they are easy to clean and sanitize rather than other sponges that harbor mold
Plastic Bag swap outs
Instead of plastic bags I like to use stashed bags or compostable bags. These work great. If it is something messy or sticky i use the compostable bags. The stashed bags are great for everything i probably have 10. I use them for everything, cheese, frozen foods, sandwiches. It is one of my favorites.
Instead of plastic containers
I like to use ello containers or these compartmentalized glass containers for meal prep.
I hope these environmentally friendly swaps help you. What eco friendly hacks do you use in you home? Tell me below.

Everything to stay safe and hydrated a sweltering summer. A recipe for a hydration drink. best ways to keep cool in the heat
Hydration Drink Recipe
Hydration Drink Recipe
1/2 TSP pink salt
2-3TBSP Juice ( Orange, Lemon, or Lime)
1-2 TBSP Local Honey
1 quart filtered water
Combine all the ingredients in a quart mason jar shake to combine and add a few ice cubes.
Water Bottles
The color is so pretty, and it will be super hard to find. I live the quality and commitment you get from yeti products they are some of our most used water bottles and cups. I also like this straw cap better than the regular chug cap.
I like this yeti bottle for my kids its a great size they love to decorate it with lots of stickers and its easy to clean.
My only hang up with this giant water bottle is that it isn’t insulated but I love the size of it . I also like the weight of it because it is light and great for hikes or the beach.
Liquid IV
I love liquid IV if i am in a pinch to get rehydrated in the depths of Oklahomas hellacious summer heat.
I hope these hydration tips and vessels keep you and your family cool and hydrated this summer.

Sunscreen!
Theses are some of my favorites, they might not be considered the “cleanest” but our family of fair skinned gingers cna’t risk sunburn!
Shoes
Here are a few of my kids favorite summer shoe styles. I like the native and the plae shoes because they have closed toe options. lots of camps, schools, as well as adventuring require closed toe shoes Those two brands I feel like have the best water friendly options .
Plae brand shoes the styles are called Mimo and Sam are another favorite. Here is a referral link for that brand.
Swimsuits
The best full coverage swim suits called surf suits i have found have come from Mini Boded. Again putting sunscreen of kids is like herding cats, the more covered the more better is my motto. I have a referral code here to save you some money!
Sun Shirts
Sun shirts are a must have for my kids like i said they are pale! I try to keep as much of their skin covered as possible. I like that they also keep kids cool.

Here is how to make your own home made recipe book, to share with your family or to buried with it depending on what kind of recipe person you are.
First you will start with your binder, use what you have and her are some pretty options.
You will need to get avery tabs. I am obsessed with them they work really well and love them for organizing
Binder Divereds would also be helpful to divide each section ( breakfast, lunch dinner, desserts, sides , breads, etc)
Then get your printer loaded up with ink get your three hole punch out and get to putting to gather your recipe book. Print out favorites you’ve pinned on Pinterest or that your friends have given you.
Go on Pinterest, or gather the 72 printed recipes you’ve got squirreled away in your kitchen and get them into the binder and 3 hole punched
On the first page of my recipe binder, I have a list of 20-30 meal ideas or recipe tiles from cook books I own.
I group the recipes by main protein ( fish chicken or beef eat) Then i catsgorize them by meals, deserts, sides , eco. EASCH RECIPE HAS THE NAME OF IT ON THE TAB FOR EASY LOCATION! this is key, otherwise its just a binder full of papers., organization helps so much and you will thank me when your looking for your beloved cinnamon roll recipe
I also have recipe sheets and cards you can download here to add to your homemade recipe book.
Comment below with your favorite recipe.
