Here is a loaded question most homeschooling parents can relate to.

Why are you homeschooling your kids?

Every homeschooling parent I know has different answers. It could be because their state has a bad education track record, or  they couldn’t imagine sending their super sensitive 4 year old into a class of 30 kids and 1 adult. Maybe their child is gifted and is bored in a traditional schooling system, or they were homeschooled themselves and couldn't imagine doing anything else for their family or maybe their child has some very severe allergies and going to a traditional school setting would put their life at risk.  Whatever the reason, it's deeply personal, filled with lots of emotions. Yet its something homeschooling parents are asked alot, by like the lady at the checkout line at target or family members.

 Isn't your child going to miss out on the school experience?

 How are you going to socialize with them? 

Are you sure you're qualified to teach your kids? 

These questions, little digs at our choices, can creep in and make us doubt we’ve made the right choice for our families. Especially early on in the homeschooling journey, when you're just trying to see if this is going to work and you're experimenting, and it's hard. Maybe your kido is deschooling and there are alot of big feelings going around, or maybe you have a newborn and you've added this new little person to the mix. We are all just trying to figure out what works for our individual family and you're doing an amazing job, because you know your child, you know their needs, their strengths, their weaknesses, and how to challenge them.

 Taking time to slow down, have quiet time together to read, to pull out the art supplies, turn on the music and just slow down, quiet the noise of outside options and listen to your intuition. Listen to those gut feelings of what direction your child needs while basking in their unique presence.
